This year, the brand-new Tiksu’s Advent calendar “Tiksu’s 24 days until Christmas” makes awaiting the holiday season special. Each day, a window opens in the calendar with a picture of Tiksu in a new role or doing something Christmas-themed.

The 2024 Christmas card was created by Elise Nigul, a prop and stage designer and alumna of Viljandi Culture Academy of the University of Tartu.

Adult learners are welcome to participate in micro-credential programmes starting in the spring semester to acquire an additional specialisation or competence in a narrow field. Applications can be submitted until 26 January.

The first week of the traditional night library will take place this year from 9 to 13 December, when students can study in the library until midnight. In January, you can visit the night library for three weeks.

Starting on 25 November, the digital archive of the University of Tartu in DSpace will be called ADA. With the new name, the archive will also have a fresh homepage design that aligns with the design of the university’s website.

1 December marks 105 years from the opening of the Estonian-language University of Tartu. Traditional anniversary events will be held on that occasion.

On 25 October, the University of Tartu senate decided to award the University of Tartu Grand Medal to Professor of International Business Urmas Varblane. Also, the recipients of the University of Tartu Star of Appreciation, Medal, Badge of Distinction and the decoration “100 Semesters at the University of Tartu” have been announced.

The University of Tartu and the Blood Centre of Tartu University Hospital invite the university family to a blood donor day on Tuesday, 26 November, from 10:30 to 15:00 at the Delta Centre.

On Thursday, 17 October, the University of Tartu and Tartu University Hospital signed a framework agreement for industrial doctorate to provide doctoral student places for Tartu University Hospital staff members who want to pursue a doctoral degree alongside their clinical work.

On 20-21 November, a short course on building competences for transdisciplinary collaboration will be held at the University of Tartu Library.

From 8 May to 20 October, all UT employees, students, alumni and all others interested are welcome to complete the orienteering course and reconnect with the history of the UT dormitories.

The state visit of the President of Portugal, Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa, to Estonia on 8–10 October has been postponed at the request of Portugal.

All University of Tartu students are welcome to join us and focus on mental health together! We here at the Student Union want to contribute to students' mental well-being.

The competition will be held on Wednesday, 2 October at 10:00 in the Conference Hall of the University of Tartu Library.

On 20 November, the University of Tartu Library hosted a conference focusing on the particulars of interdisciplinary and cross-disciplinary cooperation.

The concert “180 years from Clara Schumann’s concerts in Tartu”, which will take place on 11 October at 18:00 in the university assembly hall.
